🏰The 2021 Cosse Maisonneuve Cahors Les Laquets is a remarkable vin de terroir, showcasing the purest expression of Cahors Malbec, magnified by biodynamic viticulture. This wine, made from old Malbec vines on clay-limestone soils, opens with notes of ripe black fruit, including blackcurrant, wild blueberry, and candied prune, complemented by smoky touches and a hint of eucalyptus. The palate is frank and deep, with a dense, velvety texture and juicy, delicately powdered tannins, promising a powerful and concentrated profile that will age well for over a decade.
🍴 This robust red wine from Southwest France pairs wonderfully with grilled red meats, lamb, or hearty stews. For an Eastern pairing, consider a rich Sichuan beef hotpot or a deeply flavored Korean BBQ.
🥂 Ideal for a casual gathering with friends, a barbecue, or a hearty family meal, this wine offers both immediate enjoyment and excellent aging potential.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve was founded in 1999 by Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve in Cahors, South West France. They are pioneers of biodynamic farming in the region. 'Les Laquets' is their flagship Malbec, sourced from old vines on limestone soils. It is an elegant, structured wine with intense black fruit, floral notes, and refined tannins.
