🏰Auguste Clape's 2020 Cornas is a benchmark Syrah from the Northern Rhône, renowned for its powerful structure and savory depth, promising an intense and age-worthy experience from a strong vintage. Expect a wine of immense power and structure, typical of Clape's Cornas. The nose will likely offer concentrated dark fruit aromas, such as blackberry and blackcurrant, intertwined with savory notes of olive, smoked meat, black pepper, and a distinct minerality. On the palate, it should be full-bodied with firm, yet refined tannins and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, complex finish that speaks of its granite terroir.
🍴 This robust Cornas demands equally bold food. Pair it with grilled or roasted red meats like prime rib, venison, or lamb. Hearty stews, game dishes, and strong, aged cheeses would also be excellent matches. Consider dishes with black olives, herbs de Provence, or a peppery crust to complement its savory profile.
🥂 A serious wine for serious occasions. Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a gathering of Rhône enthusiasts, or as a significant addition to a cellar for long-term aging. It will reward patience.
