The 2009 Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes displays a beautiful golden color. The nose is slightly woody with an explosion of honey, peaches, exotic fruit, and an exceptional richness and intensity. Aromas of rose petals, exotic fruits such as mango and nectarine, intermixed with peach marmalade, honeysuckle, and crushed pineapple, emerge from this full-bodied white. On the palate, it boasts a remarkable texture—thick yet fresh—with notes of white flowers, honeysuckle, lavender, honey, and orange zest. The balance is perfect, especially with the minerality from the limestone, which gives this wine a great texture. It's dense and rich, with creamed yellow apple, sweetened butter, glazed pear, and Cavaillon melon notes woven seamlessly together, gliding through a very long finish, showing gorgeous purity and length. It's drinking at its peak today yet should offer another decade of safe drinking.
🍴 This exceptionally rich and complex white wine pairs wonderfully with equally rich and flavorful dishes. Consider foie gras, lobster, rich seafood preparations, roasted poultry, or even dishes with truffles. Its intensity can also stand up to creamy sauces and mature cheeses.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a truly special occasion, a milestone celebration, or a luxurious gourmet dinner. It's a wine to savor slowly and appreciate its profound depth and evolution. Serve at 14°C in tasting glasses.
