🏰 The 2023 Burgundy vintage is generating high expectations and is set to be brilliant. Vincent Paindavoine's Gevrey-Chambertin Les Crais is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits' most renowned villages. This cuvée originates from the lieu-dit “Les Crais,” celebrated for producing wines that combine intensity, precision, and mineral finesse.
This wine offers a lively and precise attack, with juicy red and black fruits framed by finely grained tannins. The mid-palate is ample yet controlled, carried by a fresh, saline acidity that elongates the finish. A discreet oak imprint brings gentle toast and sweet spice, enhancing the length without heaviness. Tasters note a ton of red fruit, cherries, and strawberries, with complex hints of spices and tobacco. It shows high concentration, good tension, structure, and balanced acidity. Subtle notes of vanilla, cherry, and a slightly mentholated character are also present. 【A refined expression of Pinot Noir from a renowned Gevrey-Chambertin lieu-dit, showing great promise.】
🍴 Ideal pairings include roasted or grilled duck breast, veal or lamb with herbs and jus reduction, game birds with mushrooms, and refined cheeses such as Comté or Tomme. It is also a classic match for duck, goose, and other game birds.
🥂 The minimum drinking window for the 2023 Vincent Paindavoine Gevrey-Chambertin Les Crais begins from 2026. This wine shines during gastronomic dinners, autumn or winter meals, and intimate tastings among Burgundy lovers, where its nuances can be fully appreciated over the course of the evening.
