FEATURES
🏰 The 2005 Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé is a radiant, star-bright ruby with vermilion highlights. This vintage for Champagne was notably successful despite some initial challenges, with a cool but dry winter and a reasonable spring leading to good budburst and flowering. The summer was dry with a very hot August, but the surrounding forests helped moderate the climate. Bollinger only produces a vintage in years when the harvest achieves perfect balance. This rosé reveals a restrained and elegant character with a notable presence of floral aromas, achieved by adding just 5% of concentrated Pinot Noir. Tasting notes include delicate biscuit nuances, rosehip jam, fresh red cherry, and smoky minerality. The palate is smooth, silky, and ethereal, with bright, pristine strawberry notes. Despite its pale salmon-pink color, it possesses an impressive intensity, with layers of cherry and spicy notes, and a memorable generosity and depth. 【 It is a thrilling wine with a beautiful nose, marked by extremely sensual and forward wild red berry notes. 】
🍴 This complex Champagne pairs beautifully with seafood, such as Tom Kha soup, Thai red beef curry, and seafood Pad Prik Kang. Its savory statement, with dried porcini mushroom aromas and dried cherry fruits, makes it a gastronomic dream.
🥂 The 2005 Bollinger La Grande Année Rosé is drinking beautifully now, but may offer more in another 3-5 years. It benefits from a good amount of air to truly show its character and is best served in a universal glass rather than a flute. It's an outstanding choice for special celebrations, romantic dinners, or any occasion where a powerful and focused rosé Champagne is desired.
BACKGROUND
Champagne Bollinger, founded in 1829 in Aÿ, is one of the most prestigious and historic houses in Champagne, renowned for its powerful, Pinot Noir-dominant style. 'La Grande Année Rosé' is a vintage champagne produced only in exceptional years. It is crafted by blending the classic La Grande Année (predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay) with a small percentage of still red wine from Bollinger's legendary Côte aux Enfants vineyard in Aÿ. Fermented entirely in oak barrels and aged extensively on its lees, this rosé is rich, complex, and gastronomic, featuring notes of wild strawberries, toasted nuts, and spices.
