While specific tasting notes for 2024 are still emerging, the 2023 vintage offers a preview of its potential: 【remarkable freshness and vivacity, with intense aromas of pineapple, mango, and subtle hints of peach】. Expect a juicy, well-balanced wine with a creamy texture, showcasing a refreshing and delightful tropical profile, complemented by white peach, honeysuckle, and crushed stone notes, all underpinned by vibrant acidity.
🍴 This elegant white Rhone wine pairs beautifully with delicate fish, crustaceans, white meats, and foie gras. It's also superb with creamy cheeses like Brie or Comté, mushroom risotto, or even grilled salmon with asparagus.
🥂 As a future vintage, this wine is perfect for collectors eager to acquire a young, age-worthy white Rhone. It promises to be a delightful and refreshing experience, ideal for special occasions, elegant aperitifs, or as a long-term addition to a discerning cellar.
BACKGROUND
Le Vieux Donjon is a French wine producer located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The modern estate was established by Marcel Michel in 1966, making it young by European standards, but around a third of the estate's vines are more than 100 years old.The estate owns 15 hectares (37 acres) of vineyard in the southern Rhône, all of it farmed organically. These are almost exclusively planted to red varieties, including Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsaut. Just one hectare of the vineyard is planted to the white varieties Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Clairette for Le Vieux Donjon Blanc.
