🏰 The 2001 Thierry Allemand Cornas Chaillot is a 【highly sought-after expression of traditional, terroir-driven Northern Rhône Syrah from a strong vintage】. Thierry Allemand is renowned for his meticulous approach, yielding wines of immense character and longevity. While specific tasting notes for this exact vintage are rare, expect a powerful and concentrated wine with deep dark fruit, black pepper, olive, smoked meat, and savory earthy notes. The firm tannins typical of Cornas will have softened beautifully over two decades, offering a complex and captivating drinking experience.
🍴 This robust Cornas Syrah is an exceptional match for hearty and flavorful dishes. Think roasted or grilled red meats like lamb, beef, or venison. It also pairs wonderfully with rich game dishes, slow-cooked stews, and strong, aged cheeses. Dishes featuring black olives, herbs de Provence, or smoked elements will beautifully complement its savory profile.
🥂 An ideal wine for a serious collector's tasting, a celebratory dinner with rich cuisine, or a special occasion that calls for a truly authentic and mature Rhône. Serve at 16-18°C (61-64°F). Decanting for 1-2 hours is highly recommended to allow this powerful, mature Syrah to fully express its intricate aromas and flavors.
BACKGROUND
Thierry Allemand is a leading producer of wines from the Syrah grape in the Cornas region of the Northern Rhone Valley. Renowned for their varietal expression and velvety texture, the wines have a loyal following and the estate was formed by Alleman starting in the 1980s by purchasing large areas of small abandoned land. Less than 5 hectares (12 acres) in size. Only 500 cases of the top Les Chaillots and Reynard cuvées are available, always in short supply.
