🏰 The 2018 Bonneau du Martray Corton Grand Cru is a 【full-bodied, velvety, and enveloping red wine, bursting with notes of blackberries, woodsmoke, spices, and rich soil tones】. Robert Parker awarded it 94 points, suggesting it may be the domaine's best red wine to date, built around powdery tannins and succulent acids, with a long and expansive finish. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was a sunlit season, producing seductive, well-balanced, aromatic, fresh, and direct red wines with elegant and approachable tannins. This wine is noted for its deep fruitiness and welcoming character even at a young age.
🍴 This powerful and elegant red Burgundy, with its rich fruit and earthy spice, pairs exceptionally well with classic French dishes such as beef bourguignon, roasted pheasant with wild mushrooms, duck cassoulet, or braised veal shanks.
🥂 An excellent choice for a grand dinner, a special celebration, or a serious tasting among Burgundy enthusiasts. Its structure and concentration also promise good aging potential. Serve at 15-17°C (59-63°F).
BACKGROUND
Domaine Bonneau du Martray is a highly regarded wine producer based in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland, France. The domaine was founded by the Bonneau family following the French Revolution, but the vineyards already had a reputation for producing exceptional wines. It is estimated that vines have exsisted here since Roman times and that emperor Charlemagne was a devotee – to the red wines in particular.
