🏰 Etienne Sauzet's Montrachet Grand Cru is a 【legendary white Burgundy, a world reference among the greatest Chardonnays】 and a benchmark for quality. The 2013 vintage, a good year for white Burgundy, offers a wine of incredible depth and concentration. Expect 【intense, complex aromas of white flowers, citrus zest, honey, and toasted bread, evolving with notes of hazelnut and brioche. The palate is full-bodied, rich, and enveloping, with lively balancing acids, a harmonious alliance of richness, power, and mineral structure, leading to an endless, lavish finish】.
🍴 This aristocratic white wine demands sophisticated dishes. Pair it with haute cuisine like lobster, crawfish, or large wild prawns. It also excels with firm-fleshed white fish such as monkfish, foie gras, or well-bred poultry in a cream-and-mushroom sauce. For a luxurious Cantonese pairing, try steamed garoupa with superior soy sauce or abalone in oyster sauce.
🥂 A masterpiece for grand celebrations or a truly memorable tasting experience, this Montrachet Grand Cru has excellent aging potential, developing favorably in the bottle for 15 to 20 years.
BACKGROUND
Etienne Sauzet is an estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, France, making some of the most sought-after Chardonnay wines in Burgundy. The domaine is made up of 15 hectares (37 ac) of estate vineyards split . Etienne Sauzet was established at the forefront of Puligny-Montrachet production by Etienne Sauzet himself (1903-1975). His 12 hectare (30 ac) estate was taken over by his son-in-law Gérard Boudot, although in 1991 Boudot's cousin Jean-Marc Boillot took out his share of vineyards, requiring Boudot and his family to make additional acquisitions to bring the property back to its current size.
