🏰 The 2014 Coquard Loison Fleurot Echezeaux Grand Cru comes from a 【prestigious family-owned estate in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, gaining recognition for its exceptional Pinot Noir】. The 2014 vintage for red Burgundy was generally pleasing, offering delicious, fruit-forward wines suited to medium-term drinking, despite some hail damage in the Côte de Nuits, particularly in Echezeaux. Winemaker Thomas Colladot emphasizes gentle, minimally interventionist techniques, resulting in wines that reflect the finesse and complexity of their terroirs.
This Echezeaux Grand Cru is described as a big, ripe, and bold wine, 【full of red fruits and fine tannins, with crisp red currant outlining ripe wild-strawberry flavors】. It reveals an elegant and generous nose of cherry, raspberry, and spices. The mouth is ample and suave, with black fruits and roasted aromas. Some notes mention attractive spices on the palate, with a touch of wood still noticeable but good balance and elegance, presenting a round wine with young but polished tannins.
🍴 This Grand Cru Burgundy pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb, rib-eye steak, game, and mature cheeses. Its elegance and fruit profile would also complement dishes like roasted duck, mushroom-based preparations, or even a rich coq au vin.
🥂 A magnificent choice for a significant celebration, a gourmet dinner, or as a prized addition to a serious wine collection. Its Grand Cru status and aging potential make it a wine for special moments.
Serving Suggestion: This 2014 Echezeaux Grand Cru is still relatively young for a Grand Cru and has a cellaring potential of 10-15 years. It can be approached now, but will benefit from decanting for at least an hour to allow it to fully express its aromas and flavors. Serve at 16-17°C.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot is a wine estate located in Burgundy that produces wine entirely from Pinot Noir. Until recently, these wines were rarely exported, but current commercial director Claire Fleurot and winemaker Thomas Colladot have changed that. Under their guidance, the winery’s reputation has grown significantly. The total vineyard area is approximately 9 hectares (22 acres) spread over 6 different Grand Cru vineyards.
