FEATURES
🏰 The 2019 De Morgenzon Chenin Blanc Reserve hails from a cooler vintage, resulting in wines with bright acidity and remarkable precision, a delightful shift from previous warmer years. This vintage is considered a standout for the estate's Chenin Blanc, promising excellent longevity. Fermentation occurred in French oak barrels, with a portion undergoing malolactic fermentation, followed by 10 months of lees ageing.
This wine presents a medium lemon-green hue with silver reflections. The nose is a complex tapestry of fresh orange zest, almond, peach, mineral nuances, subtle blossom honey, and jasmine. On the palate, it is juicy, powerful, and elegant, showcasing white stone fruit, fine acidity, integrated oak, and a persistent mineral finish. Expect notes of oak, butter, vanilla, pear, apricot, honey, and citrus.
🍴 This is a wonderfully versatile food wine, pairing beautifully with salmon, tuna, and surprisingly well with darker cheeses. It also complements shellfish, spicy dishes, lean fish, and mild, soft cheeses.
🥂 Its refreshing character and complexity make it suitable for a range of occasions, from a sophisticated seafood dinner to a relaxed gathering with friends. Its ageing potential also means it can be cellared for future enjoyment.
