FEATURES
🏰 Château de Pommard's Pommard Grand Vin 1984 is an illustrious representative of the Côte de Beaune, known for producing powerful, structured, and concentrated Burgundy wines with excellent aging potential. This mature vintage displays a deep, dark red color with subtle mauve highlights. Its aromas are redolent of blackberry, bilberry, cherry pit, and ripe plum, with wild and feline notes developing with age, eventually tending towards leather, chocolate, and pepper. The wine needs time to fully open up, revealing a mouth-filling texture, a firm yet delicate structure, and chewy tannins that have smoothed down beautifully over the decades. Expect a generous, full, and melted palate, now very enjoyable, with notes of rose hips, wild berries, cocoa, cloves, and orange rind. 【An illustrious and powerful Pommard, known for its deep color, concentrated aromas, and excellent aging potential, developing complex wild and savory notes with maturity.】
For a wine of this age, utmost care is required. The cork will be fragile; use a Durand or Ah-So opener. Stand the bottle upright for at least a week to allow any sediment to settle. Decant gently 2 to 4 hours before serving to allow it to breathe and separate from sediment, but monitor closely as very old wines can be delicate. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, between 14-16°C (57-61°F).
🍴 This rich and powerful Pommard pairs exceptionally well with furred or feathered game, braised or roasted, such as wild boar stew or coq au vin. Thick-cut beefsteak, lamb, or stewed poultry are also excellent choices. For cheese, it's a natural partner for well-developed flavors like Époisses, Langres, Soumaintrain, or Comté.
🥂 A magnificent choice for a landmark celebration, a gathering of Burgundy aficionados, or a special evening dedicated to experiencing the profound evolution of a classic, mature Pinot Noir.
