🏰 The 1995 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is a 【knock-out and still quite youthful luxury cuvée】, highly praised with scores like 95 from Allen Meadows and 96 from Robert Parker. This vintage is celebrated for its exceptional quality, particularly for Chardonnay, following a period of high-cropping years. It presents a pale yellow color with a silver sparkle and uniquely delicate bubbles. The nose is subtly spicy and lemony, with botanical and floral scents of mild tobacco and tea leaves. On the palate, fresh citrus fruit and lime flavors lead to a long-lasting finish with a hint of vanilla. It's noted for its subtle power, candied berry, dried citrus notes, and an ever-present mineral character, retaining freshness even after decades.
🍴 This exquisite Champagne is perfect with delicate and refined dishes. Think fresh oysters, seared scallops, lobster thermidor, or a classic caviar service. For an Asian touch, it would beautifully complement steamed garoupa with ginger and spring onion, or delicate dim sum like har gow.
🥂 An ideal choice for significant anniversaries, milestone celebrations, or as a sophisticated aperitif to kick off a grand event. This Champagne is still drinking beautifully and is expected to continue to do so for several more years, making it a truly special bottle. Serve well-chilled, around 8-10°C (46-50°F).
BACKGROUND
Taittinger is one of Champagne's most famous houses. It is known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvées, the pinnacle of which is the blanc de blancs prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne. The family-owned estate has approximately 290 hectares (710 acres) of vines, around half of which is planted to Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier making up the rest. These vineyards contribute 50 percent of Taittinger's output, with the rest coming from growers who have historical relationships with the house.
