FEATURES
🏰 The 1985 Auguste Clape Cornas comes from an outstanding vintage in the Northern Rhône, known for producing wines of great depth and longevity. This classic Syrah, from old vines on steep, sunny terraced vineyards, offers a deep, complex profile. While showing some signs of graceful aging, it remains a superb wine. Expect flavors of ripe blackberries, peppery spice, earthy undertones, herbal notes, and a touch of leather. The color has evolved to a ruby red, with a beautiful red berry fragrance, light spice of liquorice and blue ink, and a lovely floral quality. The palate is finely tuned and silky, with a solid acid core and very fine dry tannins on the finish, alongside dark and red berry fruit, tar, and liquorice. It also presents a bouquet of black raspberries, medicinal Syrah tones, hung game, pepper, stony soil, walnut, and fresh herbs. Robert Parker described it as a fat, soft, lush wine with gobs of licorice, black pepper, and cassis fruit. 【 來自陡峭陽光梯田老藤的經典北隆河Syrah 】
🥂 This venerable Cornas is perfect for a special occasion, a vertical tasting of Rhône wines, or a contemplative evening for connoisseurs. It is on its plateau of maturity and will hold for many more years.
🍴 This full-bodied Syrah pairs exceptionally well with rich, savory dishes such as roasted game (venison, wild boar), slow-braised beef, lamb tagine, or strong, aged cheeses. Its peppery and earthy notes will complement hearty stews and grilled red meats.
Serving Advice for this venerable vintage: Old corks can be delicate; consider using a two-pronged cork puller or a Durand opener. Decant for 1-2 hours to allow the complex tertiary aromas to unfold and to separate any potential sediment. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Handle with care, as aged wines can be fragile.
