🏰 The 2011 vintage in Burgundy presented its challenges, with a warm spring and early flowering followed by a summer dip and a late June heatwave. Despite these conditions, Domaine des Lambrays crafted a pleasing Morey-Saint-Denis, noted for its ample and outgoing nose. Winemaker Thierry Brouin aimed for this style, resulting in a wine that is ready to drink. This vintage is characterized by pronounced whole-cluster fermentation notes of spice, sweet leather, and earth, alongside a pure and classy bouquet of cherries, blood orange, mustard seed, coffee, smoke, and cedar.
This wine displays an even and bright mid-red color. The bouquet is alluring with harmonious whole-bunch notes and a light veneer of oak. Expect a light and pure style with flavors of sour cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate, supported by good acidity. It is mouth-filling and intense, with a moderately chewy, firm texture, yet its fresh acidity lends an airier feel, finishing with a light chocolate note. 【A pleasing and fully ready-to-drink expression from a challenging vintage】.
🍴 Pinot Noir from this region generally pairs beautifully with duck, goose, and various game birds.
🥂 A delightful choice for a sophisticated dinner party or a quiet evening enjoying a well-crafted Burgundy.
