🏰"The 1996 Joseph Drouhin Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a revelation and a true wonder, an archetypal vintage with piercing acidity balanced by lovely fruit and complexity, representing the ideal of elegance according to Drouhin." Joseph Drouhin owns two parcels in this mythical vineyard, located between Vosne-Romanee and Chambolle-Musigny. The soil is very diverse, a true mosaic of clay and limestone in various proportions. The 1996 vintage is known for its piercing acidity, yet offers lovely fruit and complexity. The ruby red color is magnificent and takes on a deeper hue with age. The aromas are intense and evoke raspberry and wild cherry, becoming more complex with age: undergrowth, truffle, and candied fruit. It possesses a sublime structure with refined tannins, remarkable balance, and a lingering persistence of flavors on the palate. A deep core of color, with a nose that has width and high, faintly alcoholic tones but also beautiful red fruits and violets.

Excellent with prime meats: filet mignon, game, wild fowl, venison, and great cheeses. Pinot Noir generally pairs well with duck, goose, and game birds.
🥂 fit for event suggestion IN ENGLISH
A wine that always leaves the greatest impression, suitable for a sophisticated dinner or a special gathering.
Serving: This wine is still evolving slowly, with an aging potential of 2 to 5 years. It should be decanted if consumed in the near future. If given sufficient time (more than 2 hours), the mid-palate really fills out with dimension such that the acidity is apparently more balanced. Serve at 16-18°C (61-65°F).
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
