The palate is medium to full-bodied, pure, and elegant, with subtle yet intense tannins and a persistent aromatic finish that promises further rewards with age.
🍴 This powerful Hermitage Rouge is a superb match for hearty dishes like roasted lamb, beef bourguignon, or game stews. Consider pairing it with a rich mushroom risotto or aged hard cheeses for a truly indulgent experience.
🥂 Perfect for a serious wine tasting, a celebratory dinner, or as a prized addition to any collector's cellar.
Serving: For this 2002 vintage, decant for 1-2 hours to allow its full complexity to unfold. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Always check the cork and capsule carefully due to its age.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a powerful wine producer headquartered in the village of Mauves in the Saint-Joseph region, across the Rhone River from Hermitage. It owns about 14.5 hectares (36 acres) of land and grapes. The terraced estate now covers eight different plots on the hill, providing a range of mesoclimates and terroirs for Chave wines. Many of the vines are between 30 and 60 years old.
