🏰 The 2003 vintage in Burgundy was marked by an exceptionally hot and dry growing season, leading to an early harvest and wines with significant ripeness and concentration. For Morey-Saint-Denis, this often translated into powerful, rich reds. Domaine des Lambrays, a Grand Cru estate, is known for producing wines of remarkable depth and complexity. Expect a wine with a rich, dark fruit core, possibly showing notes of black cherry, plum, and cassis, intertwined with earthy undertones, spice, and a hint of forest floor. The palate should be full-bodied with ripe tannins and a long, persistent finish, reflecting the warmth of the vintage while retaining the elegance characteristic of a top Burgundy. This wine is likely in a beautiful drinking window, offering both fruit and evolving tertiary notes.
🍴 This robust Morey-Saint-Denis 2003 would be an excellent match for classic French cuisine. Think roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, beef bourguignon, coq au vin, or a rich mushroom risotto. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses such.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special occasion celebrating a milestone, or a contemplative evening for a Burgundy enthusiast. Its maturity makes it a perfect choice for showcasing the evolution of a fine Pinot Noir.
