🏰 Tua Rita, founded in 1984 by Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti in Suvereto, Tuscany, quickly rose to prominence as one of Italy's pioneering "vin de garage" wineries, achieving cult status for its commitment to uncompromising quality. Their vineyards, nestled in the Val di Cornia between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Metalliferous hills, boast unique clayey, silty, and iron-rich soils that impart a distinctive character to their wines. Giusto di Notri, first released in 1992, was the winery's inaugural wine and a key factor in establishing Tua Rita among Italy's premium producers. This Bordeaux-inspired blend, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is aged for 18-20 months in French oak. The 2011 Tuscan vintage, while generally good, experienced a significant heatwave in August. However, the coastal influence in Suvereto helped mitigate the extreme temperatures, resulting in wines with exceptional concentration, very good acidity, and powerful tannins, offering substantial aging potential. The 2011 Tua Rita Giusto di Notri presents a deep purple color. On the nose, it offers abundant and elegant aromas of blueberries, cedar, dried flowers like lavender, blackberry, plum, and currants, with subtle undertones of coriander, violet, and vanilla. Some notes also suggest smoky, black olive, anise, coffee, earthy, and leather nuances. The palate is full-bodied with very fine, ripe tannins and a silky texture, showcasing chocolate, berry, and hints of Spanish cedar, culminating in a long finish with surprising freshness. 【Tua Rita's inaugural Bordeaux-blend, Giusto di Notri, from the "vin de garage" pioneer, showcases the 2011 vintage's exceptional concentration and aromatic freshness, with a deep, silky profile and significant aging potential.】
🍴 This bold and structured Super Tuscan is an ideal partner for rich, savory dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with various meats, particularly wild boar, barbecued ribs, steaks, and grilled meats. Consider it with beef and venison dishes, or even adventurous pairings like spicy Asian cuisine. Medium-aged cheeses also make a delightful accompaniment.
🥂 The 2011 Tua Rita Giusto di Notri is perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special gathering with grilled fare, or as a prized addition to a collector's cellar, given its excellent aging potential. It's a wine that promises to evolve beautifully over the coming years.
