🏰This Côtes du Vivarais La Syrare from Domaine Gallety, a pioneer in organic farming since 1979, is consistently rated among the top 5 wines from its appellation. The 2015 vintage, akin to the highly-regarded 2020, promises a wine of remarkable concentration, displaying a deep color with purple highlights. Expect an intense and complex bouquet of ripe black fruits like blackcurrant and black cherry, beautifully interwoven with floral notes of violet and peony, spicy hints of black pepper, and subtle nuances of undergrowth and smoke. The palate is broad and silky, supported by a fine tannic structure and a vibrant freshness, leading to an exceptionally long finish echoing violet and pepper. This wine has excellent aging potential, with the 2020 vintage capable of evolving favorably until around 2040, suggesting the 2015 will also reward cellaring.
🍴 This powerful and structured red wine is a perfect match for generous red meats and noble game, such as a rich beef stew with root vegetables, roasted duck breast with spices, or a filet mignon with figs. It also pairs wonderfully with aged blue cheeses like Roquefort.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration, this wine is also perfect for a cozy evening by the fireplace. To fully appreciate its aromatic complexity, it's recommended to open the bottle at least one hour before serving, or even decant it.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Gallety hails from the lesser-known AOP Côtes du Vivarais, one of the cooler appellations in the southern Rhône. They primarily cultivate Syrah and Grenache. Founded in Côtes du Vivarais in 1974, the estate was established by Alain Gallety and his father. Today, Alain and his son, Davie-Alexandre, jointly manage Domaine Gallety.
