【A truly historic and unique Vin Jaune, the 1985 Fruitiere de Voiteur Chateau Chalon offers a rare opportunity to experience the profound oxidative complexity and legendary longevity of Jura's "yellow wine."】 Chateau Chalon is a Vin Jaune, a unique "yellow wine" from Jura, known for its long aging in oak with no topping, developing a white mold (flor) on top, similar to sherry. This process creates a fresh oxidized wine. Vin Jaune has a long history, first produced in Chateau-Chalon. This subtle wine has a highly developed, enchanting nose that gives off walnut, wild mushroom, and spicy aromas. Its complex, elegant structure is very present in the mouth, with a remarkable range of aromas opening up on the palate: well-developed walnut, dried fruit, curry, saffron, and roasted hints. The finish is long and very persistent. It tastes very much like sherry, calling out for nuts.
