【Domaine Huet's Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec 2020 is a star of Loire Valley Chenin Blanc, highly praised for its exceptional balance, vibrant acidity, and minerality.】 The 2020 vintage was warm and sunny, favoring wines with residual sugar. This was one of the earliest harvests in the estate's history. Clos du Bourg is one of France's oldest Grand Cru parcels, with flat clay soils and flint/chalk allowing roots to directly access the Turonian tuffeau. The wine displays a medium straw yellow color, clear and bright. The nose combines playful lightness with characterized depth: yellow citrus with delicate zest, crisp apple, and ripe pear, accompanied by dried herbs and a hint of light tobacco. The palate is silky and warm, almost inviting and easy-drinking, with stone fruit, pome fruit, and a touch of citrus unfolding juicy and direct. The 20 grams of residual sugar rest precisely on the tip of the tongue before acidity and spice emerge strongly, reorganizing the taste profile into a swirl of freshness and salinity. Despite 13.5% alcohol and remarkable concentration, the wine remains surprisingly light, with a long, mineral-saline finish, persistent spice, and a fresh herbal note in the aftertaste.
