Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Carruades De Lafite, 2010
🏰 The 2010 Carruades de Lafite from Château Lafite Rothschild is a testament to the glorious winemaking triumphs of Bordeaux's Left Bank, offering 【profound structure and elegant complexity from a climatically perfect vintage】. This second wine from the prestigious estate exudes its lineage with grace, showcasing a deep garnet color. The 2010 vintage was marked by measured sunshine and optimal ripening conditions, preserving good acidity and attractive aromatic freshness. It charges out of the gate with bold scents of baked plums and boysenberries, followed by hints of menthol, tobacco leaf, cloves, and smoked meats. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied with fine, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, supporting savory flavors and finishing with a spicy kick. Expect a bouquet of flowers with blueberries, currants, and spices, leading to a full-bodied yet agile and refined experience. This wine is balanced, in harmony, and promises longevity.
🍴 This exceptional Bordeaux pairs exquisitely with classic roasted lamb, beef Wellington, or a rich mushroom and truffle pasta. For an Asian twist, consider Cantonese braised beef brisket with daikon, or a sophisticated Peking duck.
🥂 An essential inclusion for connoisseurs seeking the quintessence of Pauillac's terroir, perfect for significant celebrations, a serious wine tasting, or as a cornerstone for a developing cellar. It's a worthy investment that speaks to discernment and foresight.
The grapes are harvested from vineyards on the Carruades plateau, adjacent to the Château Lafite flagship vineyards, sharing similar terroir.
The winery selects only one-third of its wine each year for the Lafite flagship, using the remainder for Carruades.
The Lafite flagship is aged in 100% new barrels, which are then used for Carruades the following year.
In the early 20th century, Carruades de Lafite Rothschild became a bestseller after export, gaining more fame than the Lafite flagship. Some sommeliers promoted Carruades de Lafite as a special wine above the Lafite flagship. To correct this unintentional error, the winery renamed Carruades de Lafite to Moulin des Carruades until the 1980s, when they decided to revert to Carruades de Lafite Rothschild...
The 1974 Château Lafite mentioned in an article published in the February 13, 1978 issue of New York Magazine... Rothschild's second label is called Moulin des Carruades.
