🏰 The 2018 Ink Grade Andosol is a vibrant and bold Napa Valley proprietary red blend, drawing inspiration from California's historic field blends and showcasing the unique mountain terroir of volcanic rock and ash. This wine, primarily a blend of Zinfandel (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), is abundantly fruity yet well-oaked and structured, offering bright raspberries and red cherries on the nose, mingling with riper black cherries, dark chocolate, and blueberries. The palate is firm and polished with cranberry, blackberry, and crushed stone character, framed by silky yet robust tannins, succulent fruit, and spicy oak nuances, leading to a long and bright finish with mouthwatering acids. It's a lot of wine for the price, with incredible aging potential, best enjoyed from 2025-2033.
🍴 This full-bodied red blend is versatile for food pairings. It would be excellent with grilled red meats like a juicy ribeye steak or slow-cooked short ribs. For a Cantonese pairing, consider roasted squab or a rich braised pork belly with preserved vegetables. A Western pairing could be hearty pasta dishes with meat sauce, or a gourmet burger with caramelized onions.
🥂 Ideal for a casual dinner with friends, a barbecue, or a wine tasting focused on Californian blends, this wine offers immediate pleasure while also promising further development with age. Its robust character makes it a great companion for substantial meals. Serve at around 16-18°C (60-64°F) to allow its fruit and spice notes to fully express themselves.
