🏰From one of Burgundy's most revered vineyards, the 1999 Henri Rebourseau Chambertin Grand Cru hails from an excellent vintage known for balance, concentration, and immense aging potential. This wine embodies the power and longevity Chambertin is famous for. A mature 1999 Chambertin would likely display 【complex aromas of dried cherries, forest floor, truffle, and savory notes, with a silky texture and a long, evolving finish】.
🍴 Superb with roasted lamb, venison, classic coq au vin, or aged Comté cheese. For an Asian pairing, consider a rich Peking duck or braised pork belly.
🥂 A truly special wine for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a luxurious dinner party. For a wine of this age, careful handling is key. Stand the bottle upright for a day or two before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decant gently just before serving to remove sediment and allow it to breathe for a short period, but be mindful of over-decanting very old wines. Ensure a good corkscrew is used, as older corks can be fragile.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Rebourseau is a well-regarded wine producer based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the northern Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The domaine produces principally red wines from the Pinot Noir variety. The estate began in the mid-19th century when Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau and his wife Louise-Victoire Philippon consolidated vineyard holdings. It was passed to his sons Émile and Henri, and in 1949 to Henri's son Pierre Rebourseau. In 1980, Pierre's grandson Jean de Surrel took over, shifting to organic and biodynamic viticulture. In 2018, Olivier and Martin Bouygues acquired a controlling share. Bénigne and Louis now manage the estate with Hervé Berland.
