🏰 The 2009 vintage in Burgundy was widely lauded as an excellent year, particularly for red wines, which were characterized by their ripeness, concentration, and generous fruit. This Henri Rebourseau Chambertin Grand Cru from 2009 would embody these qualities, offering a powerful yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir. Expect rich dark fruit, hints of spice, and a firm tannic structure in its youth, which would have softened beautifully with age, developing complex notes of forest floor, leather, and truffle. 【A benchmark Grand Cru from a celebrated Burgundy vintage】.
🍴 This powerful Chambertin Grand Cru demands equally robust and refined food pairings. Consider roasted game, slow-cooked beef dishes like beef bourguignon, or pan-seared duck breast with a rich berry reduction. For an Eastern pairing, a sophisticated Peking duck or a braised mushroom dish would complement its depth.
🥂 An ideal wine for a grand dinner party, a significant milestone celebration, or a serious tasting session among Burgundy aficionados. It's a wine that commands attention and rewards patience.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Rebourseau is a well-regarded wine producer based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the northern Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The domaine produces principally red wines from the Pinot Noir variety. The estate began in the mid-19th century when Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau and his wife Louise-Victoire Philippon consolidated vineyard holdings. It was passed to his sons Émile and Henri, and in 1949 to Henri's son Pierre Rebourseau. In 1980, Pierre's grandson Jean de Surrel took over, shifting to organic and biodynamic viticulture. In 2018, Olivier and Martin Bouygues acquired a controlling share. Bénigne and Louis now manage the estate with Hervé Berland.
