FEATURES
🏰 The 1976 Drouhin Laroze Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a rare and historic expression from one of Burgundy's most esteemed Grand Cru vineyards. Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, located in the northern Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its ideal east exposure and mild incline, with soils composed of red clay, chalk, and broken stones. While specific vintage reports for 1976 are limited, wines from this era, especially from Grand Cru sites, are celebrated for their profound aging capabilities, offering a unique window into Burgundy's past. 【A rare and elegant Grand Cru Burgundy from a historic vintage】 This venerable Pinot Noir is expected to display a delicate, evolved profile. The color is typically an intense ruby-red, which, with age, may show light crystal ruby hues with subtle bricking at the rim. On the nose, expect complex tertiary aromas of dried red fruit, strawberries, plums, forest floor, sous bois, tea, truffle, liquorice, leather, and musk, having gracefully evolved from youthful black cherry and dark chocolate notes. The palate should be silky and ethereal, with soft, fully integrated tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, graceful, and nuanced finish that echoes cherry and liquorice. 🥂 This extraordinary 1976 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is best reserved for the most significant and intimate occasions, such as a milestone anniversary, a special birthday for a Burgundy aficionado, or a dedicated tasting among serious collectors. It's a wine to be savored for its historical depth and the unique, contemplative experience it provides. Serving Advice for this Old Vintage: This 1976 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a venerable example of aged Burgundy, offering a profound and ethereal experience. Expect a delicate, complex bouquet where youthful fruit has transformed into nuanced tertiary aromas of dried roses, forest floor, truffle, leather, and perhaps a hint of spice or game. The color will likely be a light ruby with bricking at the rim, and the palate will be silky, with fully integrated, soft tannins and a long, graceful finish. Handle with extreme care. The cork and capsule will be very fragile. It is highly recommended to use a Durand opener or an Ah-So to minimize cork breakage. Stand the bottle upright for several days, or even a week, before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting is recommended, but proceed with extreme caution and just before serving. A slow, gentle decant, using a light source to monitor sediment, is ideal. The goal is to separate the wine from sediment without over-exposing it to air, which could cause it to fade quickly. Old Burgundies can be very fragile. Serve at a cool cellar temperature (around 16-18°C or 60-65°F) to preserve its delicate nuances. It is always wise to have a backup bottle ready, as wines of this age can be unpredictable. 🍴 This aged Grand Cru Burgundy pairs exquisitely with delicate yet flavorful dishes. Consider classic pairings such as roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, mushroom-based dishes, or subtle truffle preparations. It also harmonizes beautifully with aged, earthy cheeses. The wine's evolved character will complement the richness and complexity of such cuisine without overpowering it.
