Jean Jacques Confuron, Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru, 2016
🏰 Jean-Jacques Confuron's Romanée Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2016 is an exquisite example of 【Vosne-Romanée's unparalleled elegance and complexity from a highly regarded vintage】, showcasing the pinnacle of Pinot Noir. The 2016 vintage in Burgundy, despite early challenges, ultimately produced wines of remarkable purity, freshness, and concentration, making this Grand Cru a truly special offering. Expect a mesmerizing bouquet of wild red berries, violets, exotic spices, and a hint of forest floor, with a silky, ethereal texture and an incredibly long, perfumed finish.
🍴 This profound Grand Cru Burgundy would be an unforgettable pairing with classic Cantonese roasted goose, delicate pan-seared duck breast with truffle, or a refined braised pigeon. For Western cuisine, consider roasted venison loin, a sophisticated mushroom and foie gras terrine, or a perfectly cooked beef Wellington.
🥂 This is a wine for the most significant life events, a truly once-in-a-lifetime tasting, or a cherished addition to a serious collector's cellar. It demands attention and contemplation, promising decades of further evolution.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgund, France. The viticultural portfolio is now approximately 95-percent Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay and Aligoté. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vines across 14 appellations, including plots in the prestigious grand cru vineyards Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The domaine began with the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne Marie Bouchard in 1926, bringing together the vineyards of two different families. These vineyards have been passed through the family since, and the domaine has expanded as well, picking up plots in the prestigious grand cru sites.
