Jean Jacques Confuron, Romanee Saint Vivant Grand Cru, 2018
🏰 The 2018 Jean-Jacques Confuron Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru is celebrated as a wine of exceptional complexity and distinction. Planted in 1926, this 0.5ha parcel consistently yields the most intricate wine from the domaine. The vintage itself is noted for its richness and density, offering a sense of both weight and finesse. On the nose, expect a highly spiced bouquet featuring notes of cassis, plum, hoisin, and a hint of sandalwood. The palate is ripe, mouth-coating, and delicious, with medium-bodied flavors and excellent length, though it presents a youthfully austere finish that firms up with time. Critics suggest this is a "buy and forget you own it" wine, recommending at least 10-15 years of cellaring for optimal enjoyment. 【 One of the best examples of the Grand Cru in 2018 】.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with finely prepared roasted or stewed meats such as beef tournedos Rossini, lamb, pork, duck, or game. It also complements medium to mature cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a significant anniversary, a sophisticated dinner party, or a special celebration where a truly profound and age-worthy Burgundy is desired. This wine is a statement piece, perfect for showcasing the pinnacle of Pinot Noir.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgund, France. The viticultural portfolio is now approximately 95-percent Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay and Aligoté. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vines across 14 appellations, including plots in the prestigious grand cru vineyards Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The domaine began with the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne Marie Bouchard in 1926, bringing together the vineyards of two different families. These vineyards have been passed through the family since, and the domaine has expanded as well, picking up plots in the prestigious grand cru sites.
