Bouchard Pere Et Fils, Beaune Marconnets 1er Cru, 1997
🏰 The 1997 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune Marconnets 1er Cru is a red Burgundy that, at nearly three decades old, offers a glimpse into the graceful evolution of Pinot Noir. While specific detailed tasting notes for this exact vintage are less common, 1997 in Burgundy was generally considered a good, if not exceptional, vintage, producing wines that were approachable earlier with charming fruit. Expect a wine that has softened considerably, with tertiary aromas now prominent. You might find notes of dried red fruits, forest floor, leather, and subtle spice, with a delicate and nuanced palate. The color would likely be a lighter garnet with bricking at the rim, indicative of its age. 【 A mature and charming expression of Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 】.
Serving Advice for this Aged Wine: This 1997 Burgundy is a delicate wine. Stand the bottle upright for at least a week before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Handle with extreme care to avoid disturbing the sediment. The cork will be fragile; consider using a Durand or Ah-So opener. Gentle decanting for a very short period (15-30 minutes) might be beneficial to remove sediment, but be cautious as old Burgundies can lose their delicate aromas quickly. Serve at cellar temperature, around 14-16°C (57-61°F), slightly cooler than a younger red Burgundy, to preserve its subtle complexities.
🥂 This mature Beaune Marconnets 1er Cru is ideal for a contemplative evening, a quiet celebration among close friends, or as a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy aficionado who appreciates the beauty of aged wines. It's a wine for reflection rather than boisterous festivities.
🍴 This aged Pinot Noir would pair wonderfully with classic, refined French cuisine that isn't overly rich or intensely flavored. Think roasted poultry like guinea fowl or duck breast with a light mushroom sauce, delicate game birds, or subtle truffle dishes. For cheese, opt for mild, creamy cheeses such as Époisses (if you enjoy a strong pairing) or a mature Comté.
