🏰 Krug Grande Cuvée 168ème Édition is a 【staggering work of art, a multi-vintage blend aged for seven years on lees, showcasing Krug's unparalleled mastery of blending across 11 different vintages】 with the 2012 harvest forming its backbone. This edition is composed around the 2012 harvest, a beautiful year with low yield due to various meteorological events, making up 58% of the blend, with the remaining 42% from ten other vintages dating back to 1996. Krug's unique approach involves isolating and aging individual wines in numerous small tanks, allowing them to recreate the Grande Cuvée's consistent excellence year after year. The blend is 52% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 13% Meunier.
It boasts a light golden color and fine, vivacious bubbles. Aromas include flowers in bloom, ripe, dried, and citrus fruits, marzipan, and gingerbread. On the palate, expect flavors of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, jellied and citrus fruits, almonds, brioche, and honey, with layers of complexity and a clean, bright character.
🍴 Krug Grande Cuvée is incredibly versatile, pairing with a wealth of culinary combinations from simple aged parmesan to sophisticated turbot à la truffe. It's excellent as an aperitif with Jabugo ham and mature comté, or with oysters, grilled shrimps, Indian or Moroccan food, and even desserts like carrot cake or tarte tatin.
🥂 The ultimate celebratory drink for any grand occasion, from weddings and significant anniversaries to high-end corporate events or simply elevating a special evening at home.
