🏰 The 2016 vintage in Burgundy was challenging due to severe spring frosts and hail, leading to significantly reduced yields, particularly in the Côte de Beaune. However, the quality of the surviving grapes was often excellent, resulting in concentrated and expressive wines. Coche-Dury's Bourgogne Rouge 2016 is described as deep and quite concentrated, reflecting the short yields of the vintage. Tasting notes highlight a fine mix of black cherries, dark chocolate, soil, woodsmoke, and a touch of gamebird on the bouquet. On the palate, it's full-bodied with a solid core, fine focus, and a powerful finish, suggesting it will be long-lived for a Bourgogne-level wine. 【 A concentrated and long-lived regional Burgundy 】.
🍴 This robust Bourgogne Rouge would be an excellent partner for classic French bistro fare. Think roasted chicken with herbs, coq au vin, mushroom-based dishes, or even a hearty charcuterie board. Its depth and structure can also stand up to lighter game birds like duck or quail.
🥂 Ideal for a casual yet refined dinner with friends, a weekend meal, or as an introduction to the Coche-Dury style without the Grand Cru price tag. It's a versatile wine for enjoying now or cellaring for a few more years.
