🏰 The 2018 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Fremiet is an 【exuberant wine with lots of energy and verve, painted with broad strokes of spicy red fruit and expressive notes of plums and blood orange juice】. The 2018 vintage in 布根地 (Burgundy) was generally good, with forward fruit and freshness. This wine offers an incipiently complex bouquet mingling raspberries and blood orange with savory bass notes of wood smoke, loamy soil, espresso roast, and raw cocoa. It is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, with a deep and tight-knit core, bright acids, and a long finish. Expect darker fruit on the palate with a velvet texture enlivened by a saline/iodine touch, along with tangy sweetness and a vein of minerality.
🍴 This red 布根地 (Burgundy) Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, duck, mushroom risotto, pork tenderloin, and grilled salmon.
🥂 This wine benefits from a few years of aging to bring more radiance to its bouquet. It is ideal for a special dinner, a gathering of Burgundy lovers, or for cellaring to enjoy its evolving complexity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is a Burgundy producer focusing on Pinot Noir from highly regarded vineyards in the Côte du Beaune, France. The domaine gained fame in the 1920s when it began to make and bottle its own wine, at a time when the common practice was for élevage and bottling to take place in the hands of négociants. Marquis d'Angerville circumvented the négociants entirely by commercializing its own wine, becoming one of the leading producers to do so. Since the death of Jacques D’Angerville in 2003, the running of the estate is currently overseen by his son Guillaume.
