🏰 The 2014 vintage in the Douro was characterized by a difficult and rainy end to the 2013 harvest, followed by a warmer and drier autumn. The growing season itself was relatively cool with minimal drought stress, resulting in an exceptional vintage that balanced density with delicacy and elegance. This wine is very concentrated in color, with a deep and complex nose offering many aromatic nuances while maintaining balance. On the palate, it is vibrant, elegant, and shows excellent integration of wood, a surprisingly large variety of flavors, and a very long aftertaste. It displays a concentrated profile of tangy raspberry, cherry, and red currant fruit, backed by firm, integrated acidity, with white pepper, leafy, and spice details lingering on the finish, structured by muscular but refined tannins. 【One of the longest-lived and most iconic Douro table wines, balancing density with delicacy and elegance from an exceptional vintage.】
🍴 Pairs well with braised short ribs. Given its robust nature, it would also complement other rich red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.
🥂 A major wine, ripe and full of rich tannins and concentrated fruit, it is always one of the longest-lived wines from the Douro. It is drinking beautifully now in its youth, with a lovely refined elegance, and has the structure and fruit weight to develop well.
