🏰The 2023 Hudelot Noellat Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a 【prestigious and age-worthy red Burgundy】 from a historic vineyard, promising immense depth and complexity. Clos Vougeot is renowned for producing powerful and structured Pinot Noir wines, and Hudelot Noellat is a highly respected producer. The 2023 vintage experienced a mild winter and spring, followed by crucial March rainfall and a September heatwave, with grapes harvested in cool morning hours to preserve freshness.
👃🏻 Expect a complex nose with notes of undergrowth, cloves, and blackberry, evolving into dark blue and black fruit cloaked in mossy damp earth nuances. The palate is weighty and dense, with abundant tannins that suggest a long life in the cellar. It offers a suave texture with licorice and blackberry, and hints of brown spices and blackcurrant leaf, leading to a linear, focused, and tensile finish.
🍴 This grand cru is an exceptional match for game, rib-eye steak, roasted lamb, veal with morels, and mature cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with duck breast or beef tenderloin, where its powerful structure, earthy complexity, and refined tannins can truly shine.
🥂 A superb choice for significant celebrations, formal dinners, or as a cornerstone of a serious wine collection. Given its youth, this wine is an excellent candidate for cellaring, allowing its intricate flavors and formidable structure to fully develop over many years.
