🏰Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 1er Cru 1985 is a highly esteemed red Burgundy from a 【monopole vineyard, known for producing powerful, long-lived Pinot Noirs】. While specific detailed tasting notes for the 1985 vintage were not immediately available, wines from Clos des Epeneaux are typically characterized by their robust structure, dark fruit, earthy notes, and savory complexity, evolving beautifully with age. The 1985 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered excellent, producing wines with both richness and balance.
🍴 This mature and complex Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with roasted game, beef bourguignon, truffle dishes, or aged hard cheeses. Its earthy notes would also complement mushroom-based dishes.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a significant anniversary, a vertical tasting, or a special gathering of serious Burgundy collectors. This wine, being over 40 years old, will likely show a beautiful garnet or brick-red hue, with complex tertiary aromas of dried leaves, leather, forest floor, and subtle spice. Expect a softer, more integrated tannin structure and a long, nuanced finish. Be mindful of the cork and capsule condition upon opening.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Comte Armand is a Burgundy wine producer located in the Beaune-Cupoma region. It is famous for its Pinot Noir, especially from the estate's premier monopole vineyard, Clos de Epeneaux. Pinot. The domaine has been owned by the Armand family for nearly two centuries. During the French Revolution, the church confiscated 5 hectares (12 acres) of vineyards. For more than 100 years, the domaine consisted only of single-pole vineyards until 1994. The company was expanded in 1988 with additional plots at Volnay and later Auxey-Duresses. The winery now farms 9 hectares (22 acres) of vines organically, with an average age of 50 years and some up to 80 years old.
