🏰 The 2009 Burgundy vintage was exceptionally good for red wines, characterized by ripe, full-bodied fruit flavors and good concentration, with a hot and dry summer allowing for perfect ripening. Ghislaine Barthod's 2009 Chambolle-Musigny is a hugely pleasing wine, laced with dark red fruit, mint, minerals, and flowers, all coming together with notable persistence. It's described as a weightless, effortless wine, impressing with impeccable balance and harmony. The wine presents a bright medium red color, with wild strawberry, raspberry, mocha, and menthol on the nose. On the palate, it is silky, sweet, and seriously stuffed with fruit, dense and strong for a village wine. Ghislaine Barthod is renowned for producing Chambolle-Musigny wines of shimmering clarity and silky elegance, archetypical of the appellation's style, notably achieving this without owning Grand Cru vineyards. 【 Ghislaine Barthod is renowned for producing Chambolle-Musigny wines of shimmering clarity and silky elegance, epitomizing the appellation's style without owning Grand Cru vineyards. 】

BACKGROUND
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is one of the most prominent producers in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of Burgundy, known for its intense, ageworthy wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The estate was founded by Marcel Noëllat in the early 20th century. Marcel's daughter married Gaston Barthod, an officer in the French army stationed in Dijon. They developed the domaine together over the decades. After Gaston's death in 1999, their daughter Ghislaine took over, having managed the estate for the previous decade. Ghislaine and her partner Louis Boillot combine vineyard work across their respective domaines, but the estates are run separately and the wines are produced in their respective wineries.
