FEATURES
🏰 The 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape vintage is already being hailed as a candidate for wine of the vintage, showcasing a classy, elegant style. This very recent vintage, still in its early stages, is characterized by a medium ruby hue and a vibrant, fresh character. It offers ripe black cherries, pepper, garrigue, assorted spices, and violets on the nose, with increasing floral nuances. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, outstanding length, and terrific overall balance, expected to surpass both the 2008 and 2021 vintages. Notably, 2024 saw extremely low yields (16-18 hl/ha) and a high proportion of Mourvèdre (45%), contributing to its intensity and finesse. Clos des Papes is a historic estate, owned by the Avril family since 1896, and played a crucial role in establishing the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in 1936. Paul-Vincent Avril, the fourth generation, farms organically and vinifies traditionally, setting a benchmark for elegance and finesse in the region. Expect an elegant nose with beautiful aromas of black cherries and blackberries, mingling with floral notes of violets and Turkish delight. The palate is gorgeous, juicy, succulent yet fresh, with a superb interplay between salinity and minerality, leading to a long, poised finish. While approachable earlier than some vintages with a good decant, it has significant aging potential, with a drinking window suggested from 2031 to 2055.
🍴 This powerful and elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is an ideal partner for roasted or grilled meats, especially lamb, beef, and game. Think herb-roasted rack of lamb, grilled prime rib, or hearty beef stews. It also pairs well with strong-tasting pâtés, charcuterie, and aged cheeses like Comté or Manchego.
🥂 A highly anticipated release, perfect for a grand celebration, a serious wine collection, or as a prestigious gift for a discerning palate. 【Candidate for wine of the vintage, with extremely low yields and a high proportion of Mourvèdre, setting a benchmark for elegance and finesse】
