FEATURES
🏰 Georges Noëllat's 2023 Nuits Saint Georges, while still very young, comes from a vintage that is currently being evaluated for its potential in Burgundy. Nuits Saint Georges wines are known for their robust structure and capacity for long aging, often displaying a more 'masculine' character compared to other Burgundy appellations. Expect a wine with a vibrant ruby color, offering primary aromas of red and black fruits, with a firm tannic backbone and bright acidity that will soften and integrate with age.
🍴 This youthful Nuits Saint Georges will pair well with hearty dishes such as roasted game, beef bourguignon, or grilled lamb chops. It also complements earthy mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses. For an Asian pairing, consider a rich Cantonese braised beef brisket or a savory Peking duck.
🥂 Ideal for cellaring to allow its full potential to unfold, or for a tasting focused on young, structured Burgundy reds. If drinking now, decanting is highly recommended.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Noellat is a Burgundy winery located in Vosne-Romagne, famous for its Pinot Noir wine. Maxime Scheurlin, the 20-year-old grandson of George's wife, took over the estate from George's wife and made his debut with the excellent 2010 vintage. Prior to this, most of the winery's production was sold in bulk to négociant companies. Today, the domaine owns approximately 10 hectares (25 acres) of vineyards, spanning Vonn and neighboring communes, with a further ten hectares acquired through purchase and lease agreements. Of course, the domaine is still best known for its prized assets in Vosne, which include the Echezaux and Grands Echezaux parcels.
