🏰 The 2021 Didier Dagueneau Cuvée XXI is a truly unique and collectible wine, born from a challenging vintage marked by severe frost and rot, which reduced the crop by 60%. In response, Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau made the exceptional decision to blend all his renowned cuvées into this single, unique wine, making it the only offering from the 2021 vintage. This special blend symbolizes the terroir and the unique challenges of the year. Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau's expertise has been recognized, earning him the title of Winemaker Of The Year by La Revue du Vin de France. 【Unique "Cuvée XXI" blend, the only wine produced in the challenging 2021 vintage, making it a collector's item】.
On the nose, this exceptional cuvée is silky and delicious, with floral aromas of lemon blossom and elderberry, underpinned by deeper notes of Granny apples and vine peaches. It bursts with citrus (lemon and lime) and green apple, complemented by subtle herbaceous notes and a touch of flinty minerality. The palate offers a lively and slender attack, concentrated with citrus aromas that provide lovely tension. Expect green capsicum and mint flavors, a light body with silken flesh, and pleasant texture with lees-derived pastry characters. Some tasters note a racy, intense acidity, malic and green-fruited, with a slight lactic/vanilla note on the finish.
🍴 This complex Sauvignon Blanc would pair beautifully with delicate seafood, such as pan-seared scallops with a citrus beurre blanc, grilled white fish, or fresh oysters. Its vibrant acidity and mineral notes also make it an excellent match for goat cheese, asparagus dishes, or light poultry preparations.
🥂 The Cuvée XXI is a wine built for the cellar, with recommendations to age it for 7 or 8 years to allow its complexities to fully develop. It is a definite collectible and a pinnacle white wine. While some may find its youthful acidity quite forward, others appreciate its lean, mineral, and acidic profile. This wine is perfect for serious collectors, a special anniversary, or a tasting event focused on unique and age-worthy white wines.
