🏰 The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape vintage was strong, producing charming and seductive wines with ripe fruits and great purity, not heavy or out of balance. This Chapoutier Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac 2015, crafted from 100% old vine Grenache, offers an 【explosively perfumed bouquet of ripe red berries, candied lavender, incense, and Asian spices】. The palate is ample, fleshy, hot, and round, with concentrated raspberry, cinnamon, floral pastille, and rhubarb flavors, leading to an extremely long, spicy finish with well-knit tannins.
🍴 Excellent with all meats, especially marinated or sauced dishes, and various cheeses. It also pairs well with foie gras, shellfish, and fresh goat cheese.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a celebration, or a tasting event for Rhone wine lovers. Its impressive aging potential (30 to 60 years, even 50 to 75 years) makes it suitable for cellaring or enjoying now with proper decanting.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
