FEATURES
🏰 The 2002 Henri Giraud Argonne is a 【rare and prestigious Champagne, hailed by Jancis Robinson MW as 'a sort of Montrachet of Champagne' for its rich, extensive, and powerful character】. This inaugural vintage of Argonne, first released in 2002 after years of research, is crafted from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from Aÿ's best Grand Cru vineyards. It is uniquely 100% oak-fermented in new casks made from Argonne forest wood, then aged for seven more years on its yeasts in the bottle. Only 750 cases were produced, making it a highly sought-after collector's item. The 2002 vintage in Champagne was marked by a cold winter, mild late spring, and outstanding weather conditions. This Champagne offers a deep color and an intense, complex, opulent, and rich nose with vanilla, bread, mineral, creamy, new-oak, and herb flavors. Tasting notes also reveal candied orange peel, white truffles, spices, tropical fruit, honey, and mint, along with white flowers, dried pears, almonds, and citrus. The palate is rich and exotic, textured like raw silk, with layers of pastry cream, glazed apricot tart, vanilla, toasted coconut, crystallized honey, and tangy crushed blackberry, all balanced by vibrant acidity and a fine, intensely active mousse. Wine Spectator awarded it 97 points, and Antonio Galloni (Vinous) gave it 94 points, praising its cool, sophisticated, and striking poise.
🍴 This opulent Champagne is best paired with equally rich and refined dishes. Consider rich seafood like lobster or scallops in a cream sauce, roasted poultry such as capon or guinea fowl, or foie gras. Its complexity can also complement lighter game birds or even richer fish preparations.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a truly luxurious celebration, a significant anniversary, or a high-end tasting event for discerning Champagne connoisseurs. Its rarity and profound character make it a showpiece for special occasions.
