FEATURES
🏰【A legendary Grand Cru from a historic Burgundy estate, the Francois Lamarche Vosne Romanee La Grande Rue 1986 offers a rare journey into the past of fine Pinot Noir】. This venerable vintage, from a renowned producer, has gracefully evolved over decades. Expect a delicate and ethereal palate, showcasing tertiary aromas of dried fruit, forest floor, truffle, and savory notes, with very fine, integrated tannins. The fruit profile will be more stewed or dried than fresh, reflecting its profound age.
🍴 This aged Burgundy is a sublime match for roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, rich truffle dishes, earthy mushroom risotto, or a selection of mature, complex cheeses.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly special occasion, such as a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday celebration, or a contemplative evening dedicated to exploring the depths of aged Burgundy with fellow connoisseurs.
Serving suggestion: As a wine of this venerable age, the condition of the cork and capsule will be paramount, so careful opening is highly recommended. A brief decanting might help to gently awaken its complex aromas, but be cautious not to over-expose it to air due to its fragility. Serve slightly below room temperature, ideally between 16-18°C (60-64°F), in large, elegant Burgundy glasses to fully appreciate its nuanced bouquet.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
