FEATURES
🏰The 1994 Francois Lamarche Vosne Romanee La Grande Rue is a **delicate and well-structured Grand Cru Pinot Noir** from a monopole vineyard situated between La Tache and Romanee-Conti. While the 1994 vintage itself might be considered lighter, wines from La Grande Rue are renowned for their elegance. Expect notes of red fruit, cherry, and raspberry, often complemented by earthy, forest floor, and spicy undertones, with hints of oak and vanilla.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with roasted duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, and mild cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a contemplative evening, a special dinner with close friends, or as a highlight in a Burgundy tasting. This wine is mature and should be enjoyed now, though well-stored bottles may still offer pleasure.
Serving suggestion for older wines: For a wine of this age, expect some sediment, so decanting is recommended to separate the wine from its natural deposits. Decant gently 1-2 hours before serving. Serve at 16-18 degrees Celsius (60-64 degrees Fahrenheit) to allow its complex tertiary aromas to fully express themselves. Be mindful of the cork, which may be fragile due to age.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
