FEATURES
🏰 The 1997 vintage for Domaine François Lamarche's La Grande Rue is characterized by a lighter color, showing some orange hues, which is typical for this vintage. While it may not possess the grandeur of top Vosne Grand Crus, it was considered a pleasant drink and was showing well. Domaine François Lamarche is renowned for its 1.65-hectare monopole vineyard, La Grande Rue, uniquely situated between the legendary Romanée-Conti and La Tâche. This red 布根地 Pinot Noir's bouquet becomes increasingly captivating in the glass, offering lovely strawberry notes and the beautiful perfume of a wine maturing gracefully. The nose exhibits a charming Vosne character, with notes of sweet dark cherries, earth, meat, and fragrant Vosne spices. On the palate, it delivers velvety tannins and decent acidity, providing a solid backdrop for snappy flavors of red cherries and darker berries, along with a pleasant touch of spice. Other descriptors include cherry, toasted almonds, a slight musk, wet velvet, blackberry, and chestnut. Some tasters noted that it showed well for approximately 40 minutes before beginning to dry out, suggesting it is a wine to be enjoyed soon. 【Elegant mature Pinot Noir from a Grand Cru heartland】 🥂 This mature 布根地 is ideally suited for a quiet, contemplative evening or a small gathering of Burgundy lovers who appreciate the nuanced evolution of an aged Pinot Noir. It is a wine to savor and enjoy now. Serving Advice: Given its considerable age, this 1997 vintage demands careful handling and appropriate expectations. Older corks can be fragile; using a specialized opener like a Durand or an Ah-So is highly recommended. Stand the bottle upright for several days before serving to allow any fine sediment to settle naturally. Decant very gently, if at all, and only for a short period—just enough to separate the wine from sediment—as excessive aeration might diminish its delicate, evolved aromas. Serve at approximately 16-18°C (60-64°F) to allow its complex bouquet to fully unfold. 🍴 While specific food pairings were not detailed in the provided information, Pinot Noir from 布根地 generally pairs beautifully with duck, goose, and various game birds. Its earthy and red fruit notes would also complement roasted chicken, mushroom-based dishes, or mild, creamy cheeses.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
