FEATURES
🏰 The 1989 François Lamarche Vosne Romanée La Grande Rue hails from a "very good" Burgundy vintage for reds, particularly for appellations like Vosne-Romanée, producing ripe, rich, and generous wines with velvety tannins. A mild winter and spring, followed by a hot, dry summer, and timely late August rains, led to an early harvest of a ripe, rich crop. Many of these wines had excellent cellaring capacity, with some top estates still drinking beautifully today.
This mature Pinot Noir is characterized by its 【fine, deep color and concentrated fruity aromas】. It offers a rich essence, a heavy taste, and 【tropical fruitiness with softer acids】, presenting a plump and attractive profile with well-integrated tannins.
🍴 This exquisite, mature Pinot Noir would be sublime with classic Burgundy pairings such as coq au vin or Boeuf Bourguignon. Roasted game birds, a delicate mushroom risotto, or tender lamb dishes would also be excellent. For an Eastern culinary pairing, consider a refined Cantonese roasted squab or a luxurious braised abalone.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a milestone anniversary, a significant birthday, or a very special gathering of wine connoisseurs. This is a wine to be savored and appreciated for its age, complexity, and historical significance.
Serving Notes for Older Wine (1989): For a wine of this age, expect some natural sediment. Handle the bottle gently and stand it upright for at least 24-48 hours before serving to allow any sediment to settle. The cork may be fragile, so it is highly recommended to use a Durand or an Ah-So opener. Decanting is advisable to separate the wine from sediment and allow it to breathe, but for very old wines, monitor closely as they can fade quickly once exposed to air. Taste periodically during decanting. Serve slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
