🏰The 2023 Maison Romane Pommard 1er Cru hails from a demanding Burgundy vintage, yet Pommard, with its clay-rich soils, is celebrated for producing 【powerful and structured Pinot Noir, even in hot years】. The 2023 vintage, despite heatwaves and water deficit, saw timely rains and careful harvesting, leading to concentrated wines with balance. Expect aromatically complex notes of damp earth, forest floor, and black fruits. On the palate, it is expansive and full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a bold structure, revealing rich flavors of ripe fruit and a well-defined structure.
🍴 This powerful young red Burgundy is ideal for assertive cuisines, pairing wonderfully with roasted red meats, game, and rich stews.
🥂 A superb choice for a celebratory dinner, a special gathering, or for cellaring to witness its impressive evolution and depth.
BACKGROUND
La Maison Romane is a highly regarded micro-negociant based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, founded by Oronce de Beler in 2005. Oronce is known for his dedication to natural winemaking, using whole-cluster fermentation and minimal sulfur. Pommard is famous for producing some of the most powerful and structured Pinot Noirs in the Cote de Beaune. This Premier Cru wine showcases deep red and black fruit flavors, earthy complexity, and firm, age-worthy tannins.
