🏰 E. Guigal's Condrieu La Doriane is renowned for its exceptional quality, often defying the conventional wisdom that Condrieu wines do not age well. The 2024 vintage, while still in its nascent stages, is already showing promising signs. Preliminary reports suggest a rich and mineral wine with youthful roundness and excellent freshness. Critics anticipate a superb La Doriane, carrying its final notes with impressive persistence. Robert Parker Wine Advocate notes a refined, slightly toasted bouquet with a seductive reduction, combining typical Condrieu exuberance with a rare restraint. It is expected to be ample, dense, and round, balancing power and precision while remaining racy, airy, and saline through the finish, potentially rivaling the excellent 2023 vintage.
Tasting notes for La Doriane generally describe a brilliant clear pale golden yellow color, with intensely powerful and elegant aromas of white flowers, apricot, and white peaches. The palate is fresh, round, rich, and full-bodied, fully expressive of its terroir, offering great finesse and a pleasant light acidity balanced with fleshy fruitiness. This wine is crafted from the top five terroirs of Condrieu and aged exclusively in new oak barrels for 9-12 months. 【Contradicts the accepted wisdom that Condrieu does not age well】.
🍴 This luxurious white Viognier is versatile, making it an excellent aperitif or a superb accompaniment to delicate fish dishes, foie gras, or scrambled eggs with truffles.
🥂 The 2024 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane is an ideal choice for special celebrations, gourmet meals, or as a sophisticated aperitif. Its complexity and potential for aging make it a coveted wine for collectors and those seeking an exquisite white wine experience.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
