🏰 【Lucien Le Moine's 2018 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a highly anticipated release from a warm and generous Burgundy vintage, known for producing rich yet balanced Pinot Noir.】 The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was characterized by a warm growing season, resulting in ripe, concentrated fruit and wines with impressive power and depth, while still retaining freshness. This Grand Cru from Lucien Le Moine, a négociant known for its meticulous, small-batch winemaking, typically showcases the essence of Chambertin Clos de Bèze: a powerful yet elegant expression of Pinot Noir. It often presents a deep ruby color and a complex aromatic profile of dark cherries, blackberries, violets, and earthy notes, with hints of spice and a long, structured finish.
🍴 This magnificent Grand Cru Pinot Noir demands equally refined food pairings. Consider roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, pan-seared venison, truffle-infused dishes, or a classic coq au vin. Delicate, earthy cheeses like Époisses or Comté would also be a superb match.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly special occasion, a grand celebration, or a serious Burgundy tasting. While approachable now for its fruit intensity, the 2018 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has significant aging potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 10-20 years, developing even greater complexity and nuance. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), and consider decanting for 1-2 hours to allow its full aromatic spectrum to unfold.
