FEATURES
🏰Chateau Meyney 1999 is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur with a 【unique terroir facing the Gironde river, featuring a vein of blue clay that imparts a creamy palate, offering premium Saint-Estèphe character at a more accessible price】. This historic estate has a long lineage, with 1662 inscribed on its bottles. The vineyards are planted to a blend typically including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, with the latter being a key part of its DNA. Expect intensely aromatic dark fruit with a gamey, earthy quality, a full-bodied yet elegant palate, fine extract sweetness, ripe tannins, and a mineral-salty finish. 🍴 This mature Bordeaux is best served with classic meat dishes such as roasted lamb, beef, duck, or game. It also pairs well with Asian cuisine, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushroom dishes, and pasta. 🥂 Suitable for dinners featuring rich meat dishes or as a versatile companion for various cuisines, especially for those seeking a mature, structured Bordeaux. The 1999 vintage is a mature Bordeaux. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F) for freshness. Expect developed tertiary aromas and flavors. Be mindful of cork and capsule condition.
BACKGROUND
Château Meyney is an estate in Saint-Estèphe best known for its wine of the same name. Formed as an ecclesiastical vineyard in 1662, it is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, although its modern history began in 1917 when it was acquired by the Cordier family. The vineyard is contained in a single 51-hectare (126-acre) site, which is unusual for a estate of this size. It is planted with around 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 percent Merlot and ten percent Petit Verdot, and the typical Meyney blend reflects these proportions. Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged for 16 to 24 months in French barriques, with 30 to 60 percent new oak. A second wine, Prieur de Meyney, is made from the younger vines on the estate.
